Kom ég upp í Kvíslarskarð,
kátleg stúlkan fyrir mér varð,
fögur var hún og fríð að sjá,
fallega leist mér hana á.

Blátt var pils á baugalín,
blóðrauð líka svuntan fín,
lifrauð treyja, lindi grænn,
líka skautafaldur vænn.

Ekkert hafð' ég af henni tal,
undir sat hún sínumsal,
opið stóð þar bergið blátt,
beint var það í hálfa gátt.

Laufaskorðin leit þá við,
lengur hafði hún ei bið,
inn í steininn arka vann,
aftur luktist sjálfur hann.
