Kołysanka gniadego konia
Language:
Polish
Śpij, śpij, gniady koniu roboczy!
Już się wózek po twardej polnej drodze nie toczy,
nie brzęka kosa
i ciężka rosa
opada na bujny owies wcześnie dojrzały,
od słońca biały.
Śpij, Gniady, Lalka i Krzysia tobie
położą cukier w żłobie,
jabłko i marchew, i liście kapusty,
żebyś miał co jeść, gdy wstaniesz o godzinie szóstej.

Bay horse's lullaby
Language:
English
Sleep, sleep my tired working horse!
The wagon no longer rolls along the hard road,
the scythes are not ringing,
and heavy dew
is falling on the lush oats, ripened early,
bleached by the sun.
Sleep, dear bay horse, Dolly and Chris
will put sugar in your manger,
and apple and carrot, and cabbage leaves,
so that you'll have something to eat when you wake up at six.
