Dear friends, we are turning 20 next year! Two years ago, 0.01% of all visitors made a donation. Last year, it was 0.02%. To all who have donated - a very warm thank you! Your generosity inspires me every day to keep going. Unfortunately, the current situation is not sustainable. Even if only 0.5% of visitors could make a donation, we could continue indefinitely - so please donate today and help keep this resource freely-available to all.    ---Emily Ezust, Founder

Die Schwalben

Language: German (Deutsch)

Es fliegen zwei Schwalben ins Nachbar sein Haus,
Sie fliegen bald hoch und bald nieder;
Aufs Jahr, da kommen sie wieder,
Und suchen ihr voriges Haus.

Sie gehen jezt fort ins neue Land,
Und ziehen jezt eilig hinüber;
Doch kommen sie wieder herüber,
Das ist einem jeden bekannt.

Und kommen sie wieder zu uns zurück,
Der Bauer geht ihnen entgegen;
Sie bringen ihm vielmahl den Segen,
Sie bringen ihm Wohlstand und Glück.

Gentle Reminder
This is a personal project that I began in 1995. I receive no salary for my full-time work on it, and aside from ad revenue and copyright fees, the Archive was supported financially last year by fewer than 0.02% of our visitors. So if you found the information here useful, please consider making a donation. Your gift is greatly appreciated.

Deux hirondelles volent dans la maison...

Language: French (Français)

Deux hirondelles volent dans la maison du voisin,
Tantôt elles volent haut, tantôt elles volent bas ;
Chaque année elles reviennent là
Et recherchent leur maison de l'année passée.

Elles s'en vont maintenant vers un nouveau pays,
Et se pressent de passer maintenant dans le ciel ;
Pourtant elles reviendront par ici,
Tout un chacun le sait.

Et quand elles reviendront vers nous,
Le paysan ira à leur rencontre ;
Elles lui apportent une multitude de richesses,
Elles lui apportent prospérité et bonheur.
