Die Wellen blinken und fließen dahin

1 In later editions, Heine changed this to "Das knospet und quillt, mit duftender Lust" (The budding, the streaming, with joyous, wafting fragrances). Stanford uses this.
2 In the first edition, Heine had: "vollem Gemüt"; but in later editions he changed it to "tiefer Brust".

Gentle Reminder
This is a personal project that I began in 1995. I receive no salary for my full-time work on it, and aside from ad revenue and copyright fees, the Archive was supported financially last year by fewer than 0.02% of our visitors.
