König Baumbart, der alte Tann,
  der schüttelt sich heut' vor Lachen:
"Was doch die jungen Weibsen oft
  für törichte Streiche machen:
Da kam heut lachend ein zierlich Ding
  und hat mich am Barte gezupft,
hat auch einen tüchtigen Zwirbelschnauz
  daraus sich zurecht gerupft.
Nun seh' ich des Nachts in ihr Fensterlein,
  da liegst sie und hat keine Ruh',
und träumt all lang sich offenein Augs
  ein richtiges Mannsbild dazu.
Mein Kind, der ist auch schon unterwegs,
  er lauschte versteckt hinter mir,
hätts't du an den richtigen Bart gezupft,
  so wär' er schon längst bei dir!"
