Woher nur [dies]1 linde Säuseln
durch die lau bewegte Luft,
und der Blätter sanftes Kräuseln
und der süße Blumenduft?
Ach der Frühling ist gekommen
mit der Regenfluth der Nacht,
und hat West und Duft und Blüthen
und die Freude mit gebracht!

Woher nur die holde Freude
in der neu belebten Brust,
die nur Gram gekannt und Schmerzen,
fühlt jetzt neue Lebenslust!
Ach die Liebe ist gekommen
und mit Allgewalt und Macht,
hat sie wie der Lenz den Blumen
neues Leben mir gebracht!
