Drei Tage kniet ich weinend auf der Schwelle
Und rief den Namen an, einst mir so mild.
Dann drang ich in des Tempels letzte Zelle
Und sah erbebend das verehrte Bild.
Das Götterangesicht, das langentbehrte,
Enthüllend stand er streng im Flammenschein.
Erst als die Glut mich griff, doch nicht verzehrte,
Sprach er: Ich kenne dich. Und du bist mein.
