Dear friends, we are turning 20 next year! Two years ago, 0.01% of all visitors made a donation. Last year, it was 0.02%. To all who have donated - a very warm thank you! Your generosity inspires me every day to keep going. Unfortunately, the current situation is not sustainable. Even if only 0.5% of visitors could make a donation, we could continue indefinitely - so please donate today and help keep this resource freely-available to all.    ---Emily Ezust, Founder

't Is stille

Language: Dutch (Nederlands)

't Is stille. Rustig ligt
en slaapt het altemaal,
dat leute en leven was,
dat locht- en vogeltaal.
Geen windeken en waakt:
november houdt den staf,
en stelpt dat wekken mocht
het eindloos duister graf
des aardrijks. Ongebaand
en dood zijn weg en straat;
de voet alleen verwekt,
en 't stappen van die gaat,
een doof gerucht in 't loof,
dat, afgevallen, plekt
den grond, dien 't in een' spree
van doodsche varwen dekt.
't Is stille. Gij alleen,
o vlugge en vlijtig ding,
dat, langs den natten tak
geklaverd, uw gepink
laat hooren, fijn en snel,
ge ontsnapt en snetst alom:
"Ik leef nog: piep! Ik leef,
spijts 's winters winterdom!"

Gentle Reminder
This is a personal project that I began in 1995. I receive no salary for my full-time work on it, and aside from ad revenue and copyright fees, the Archive was supported financially last year by fewer than 0.02% of our visitors. So if you found the information here useful, please consider making a donation. Your gift is greatly appreciated.
