Dear friends, we are turning 20 next year! Two years ago, 0.01% of all visitors made a donation. Last year, it was 0.02%. To all who have donated - a very warm thank you! Your generosity inspires me every day to keep going. Unfortunately, the current situation is not sustainable. Even if only 0.5% of visitors could make a donation, we could continue indefinitely - so please donate today and help keep this resource freely-available to all.    ---Emily Ezust, Founder

Des Todes Tod

Language: German (Deutsch)

Der Tod ist müde worden,
Er strecket sich zur Ruh
In einem Sommergarten,
Die Blumen wachsen ob ihm zu.
Sie wachsen hoch empor,
Aus seinen Elfenbeinern leuchten
Die frühen Astern vor.

Der Tod liegt ausgestrecket,
Die Blumen steigen auf:
Mit Rosenrot bedecket,
Endet er seinen Lauf.
Die Knochen bleichen ganz,
Verwesen und verwelken
Bei aller Sonnen Mittagsglanz.

Der Tod wird lauter Leben,
Er steigt erneut empor,
Ein Knabe, blumenumgeben
Aus den roten Asterblättern vor.
Er geht und leuchtet schön.
Alle Menschen sind gestorben.
Sein Haar fliegt goldig schön im Föhn!

Gentle Reminder
This is a personal project that I began in 1995. I receive no salary for my full-time work on it, and aside from ad revenue and copyright fees, the Archive was supported financially last year by fewer than 0.02% of our visitors. So if you found the information here useful, please consider making a donation. Your gift is greatly appreciated.
