Sì come canta sopra le chiare unde
il bianco cegno, giunto della morte,
fra l'erbe fresche, e l'ultima sua voce
più dolcemente de adornarsi forza,
forsi per far al ciel qualche pietade
del suo infelice e doloroso fine:
così ancor  io, davanti che il mio fine
me induca a trapassar le infernal unde,
poi che non ho soccorso da pietade,
voglio cantar, inanzi la mia morte
quel duol che il cor mi serra e sì mi forza,
che il passo chiude a le mie estreme voce.
O che fossero odite queste voce
da quella altiera che mi caccia al fine de la mia vita,
e che lassar mi forza il suo bel viso,
prima che ne l'unde Dioscura Lete mi bagnasse morte!
Forse gli soverrìa di me pietade.
