Es wuchsen einst auf Hildings Gut
Zwei Pflanzen unter Pflegers Hut;
Nicht schön'res war im Nord zu schauen,
Sie grünten herrlich auf den Auen.
Die erste eine Eiche hehr;
Ihr Stamm schoss aufrecht wie ein Speer;
Ihr Wipfel, in dem Winde schwebend,
Gleich einem Helm sich rund erhebend.
Die andere ein Röschen froh,
Da Winterkälte jüngst entfloh;
Es schien der Lenz, wo Rosen keimen,
Im Kelchlein schlummernd noch zu träumen.
Doch bald wird Sturm die Erde umgehn
Und heftig auf die eiche wehn;
Bald Frühlingslicht am Himmel glühen,
Und sanft die Purpurknöspe blühen.
