Die Unruh saß mir im Herzen drein,
so bin ich gewandert landaus, landein.
Nun fänd ich gerne zur Heimat zurück!
Ich suche den Weg mit müdem Blick,
ich suche die Straße und finde sie nicht;
da winkt mir von weitem ein freundliches Licht.
Dort will ich rasten, dort ruh' ich aus
und morgen find ich den Weg nach Haus.
Ich schreite freudig, ich öffne ein Tor:
ein Friedhofkreuz und ein Lämpchen davor.
