The silver tassie

Go fetch to me a pint o' wine,
  And fill it in a silver tassie;
That I may drink, before I go,
  A service to my bonie lassie:
The boat rocks at the Pier o' Lieth,
  Fu' loud the wind blaws frae the Ferry,
The ship rides by the Berwick-law,
  And I maun leave my bony Mary.

The trumpets sound, the banners fly,
  The glittering spears are ranked steady,
The shouts o' war are heard afar,
  The battle closes deep and bloody.
It 's not the roar o' sea or shore,
  Wad make me langer wish to tarry;
Nor shouts o' war that 's heard afar -
  It's leaving thee, my bony Mary!

Nun holt mir eine Kanne Wein.
Und laßt den Becher sein von Golde;
Denn einen Trunk noch will ich weihn
Vor meinem Abschied dir, O Holde!
Am Damme dorten schwankt das Boot,
Der Fährmann schilt, das ich verziehe,
Am Baume drüben liegt das Schiff,
Und ich muß lassen dich, Marie!

Das Banner fliegt, in langer Reih
Sicht glänzen man die blanken Speere,
Von ferne tönt das Kampfgeschrei,
Und schon begegnen sich die Heere.
S'ist nicht der Sturmwind, nicht die See,
Daß ich am Ufer hier verziehe,
Auch nicht die laute Schlacht, 's ist nur,
