Det er langt so lenge vona!
Mangein gut såg eg,
som såg blidt på meg,
men han tok meg ikkje til si kona!
Ung var eg ein gong
full af dans og song.
Som den friske blom eg blømde.
Gutar raudna då
når dei på meg såg,
men eg eldest og dei frå meg rømde.
Ragnhild, ho var klok
som sin Gunnar tok
om han enn vart kalla "Knoken".
Hadde også eg tænkt så med meg:
"Best å bita på den fyrste kroken!"
