Bei lust und last folgt eins dem anderen;
die freude wird zwar oft gehemmt
und von betrübnis unterdrückt,
doch aber niemals ganz erstickt.
Dringt dich die noht mit vollen haufen,
so merke diesen trost, mein geist!
Das wasser kann sich leicht verlaufen,
das alle ufer niederreisst;
je grösser kummer, angst und pein,
je näher wird ihr ende sein.
