Des Tages laute Stimmen schweigen

Language: German

Des Tages laute Stimmen schweigen,
Und dunkeln will es allgemach,
Ein letztes Schimmern in den Zweigen,
Dann zieht auch dies der Sonne nach.

Noch leuchten ihre Purpurgluten
Um jene Höhen, kahl und fern,
Doch in des Äthers klaren Fluten
Erzittert schon ein blasser Stern.

Ihr müden Seelen rings im Kreise,
So ist euch wieder Ruh gebracht;
Aufatmen hör ich euch noch leise,
Dann küßt euch still und mild die Nacht.
