Tak jestem smętny jak kurhan na stepie,
A tak samotny jak wicher na morzu;
A tak zbłąkany jak liść na bezdrożu

Straszą mnie widma i tajemne zbrodnie
śpiewają rajów skrzydlate ahury.
Gdybym rozerwać mógłna sercu chmury,
rzucałbym gwiazdy sercom bez podobnie.

Gdybym niebył Druid skamieniały,
Bóg bez wiecz ności i król bez korony;
Gdybym ja niebył ptak morski szalony 
gdybym ja niebył od męki zczerniały,

Powiódł bym na Termopile!
