, "Modo per portare la voce", from Metodo pratico di Canto Italiano, no. 19, note: Per portamento della voce non si deve intendere che si debba trascinarla da una nota all'altra come abusivamente si suole fare; ma unire perfettamente un suono con l'altro. Quando sappiansi legar bene le sillabe come si indicò nella Lezione I, riuscirà piú facile l'impararne la maniera; un abile maestro però è quello solo che può darne una distinta idea con la propria voce. Puossi portare la voce in due modi, cioè: od anticipando insensibilmente colla vocale della sillaba precedente la nota che segue, com'è indicato nel primo esempio; l'altro modo, meno usato, è di posticipare la sillaba con quella che si lascia, com'è indicato nel secondo esempio. Nelle frasi di grazia o di molta espressione produce un buon effetto; l'abusarne però è difetto, perché allora il canto riesce manierato e monòtono.
