Schlaflied

Language: German
Translation(s): ENG DUT

Mit irren Farben spielt der Tag;
Auf Blümchen rot, auf Blümchen blau
Erglänzt des Himmels feuchter Tau.

Ins frische Gras legt er sich hin,
Läßt über sich die Wolken ziehn,
An seine Mutter angeschmiegt,
Hat ihn der Traumgott eingewiegt.

Lullaby

Language: English

 The woods exhort, the stream calls clear,
 Dear youngling, join our pleasures here.
 Entranced, the boy comes through the field,
 He stands, and all his hurts are healed.

 A quail pipes from the hedge. The day
 Diverts itself with colors gay;
 On blossoms red, on blossoms blue,
 Heaven shakes its sparkling dew.

 He makes the grassy bank his bed,
 White clouds are drifting overhead;
 In Mother Nature's lap he seems,
 Lulled to sleep by the god of dreams.
