Die Zelle im Nonnenwerth

Language: German (Deutsch)

Ach, nun taucht die Klosterzelle
einsam aus des Wassers Welle,
und ich seh' in meinen Schmerzen,
daß die Zelle fremd dem Herzen.
Nicht die Burgen, nicht die Reben
haben ihr den Reiz gegeben,
nicht die wundergleiche Lage,
nicht Roland und seine Sage,
nicht die Wiege deutscher Gauen,
die von hier ich kann erschauen;
denn des Herbstes kühle Winde
und des Winters eis'ge Rinde
pochten an. Sie mußte flieh'n,
die den Zauber hat verliehen
dieser Zelle, die umfangen
hält der Rhein mit Liebesbangen.
Soll allein den Schmerz ich tragen,
allein mit der Zelle klagen,
wird sich zu mir Hoffnung neigen,
sollen meine Lieder schweigen.
Dies, das letzte meiner Lieder
ruft dir: Komme wieder, wieder!

Gentle Reminder
This is a personal project that I began in 1995. I receive no salary for my full-time work on it, and aside from ad revenue and copyright fees, the Archive was supported financially last year by about 0.03% of our visitors.
